EVALUATION QUESTION 1: In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

There are a number of conventions of a thriller film that makes it recognisable as a genre. In the opening scene the audience can or should be able to distinguish the thriller genre. The opening scene will ask the audience a lot of questions and keep them “on the edge of their seat”, the scene has to create suspicion and this is done by.

These types of conventions:
  • Sound
  • Editing
  • Lighting Narrative
  • Iconography
  • Setting
  • Mise-en-scene
In the attempt of making a thriller opening we have tried to input and challenge some of the conventions named above.

Both of these shots are establishing shots of the main characters, it also shows the location and setting as in our film the audience can tell that she is walking through private flats.

Close up of the place showing the contents of the place for instants the inside of the house we show the kitchen with it utensils.

This shot shows the dead victims
I believe we have developed and challenged some of the conventions. One thing I cant stop banging on about is our voice overs because it sound so real and professional and such genius to use in a thriller i loved it some much and I believe by doing this we have definitely developed and challenged the conventions
